A breakdown of Lightbringer's top Heroes in the current Meta!

Editor Note: Deadfrag is proud to announce it's working with Lightbringer, an amazing content and media figure in the Deadlock scene and a coach for top EU team Lowkey W. In his first work with Deadfrag he will be breaking down the current hero meta. His latest tier list focuses on how heroes are being valued in competitive drafts, especially around first phase picks and bans, lane strength, mobility, objective impact, and late game scaling.

At the top of the list are the heroes shaping drafts before teams even get into the deeper parts of their strategy. The FP/B tier is made up of heroes that are either being banned early or picked immediately if they somehow make it through. Below that, the S tier contains heroes that may not always force the first ban, but still carry major impact in the current meta.

FP/B Tier: First Phase Picks and Bans

The Doorman

The Doorman sits at the top of the current meta because his combination of explosive damage and game breaking mobility makes him a near automatic first ban. It is very unlikely he makes it through the ban phase in serious matches.

Even when the door is not used perfectly, the rest of his kit does enough to make up for it. His Call Bell ability feels overtuned at max level, and when that is combined with his ultimate, he brings too much value to safely leave open in a draft.

Bebop

Bebop is another hero teams do not want to give away. His laning phase is extremely strong, and his base stat line is high enough that he can feel closer to a frontliner or stat checking hero than a traditional pick hero.

In the hands of a competent player, Bebop's objective impact is enormous because of his ultimate. Even when the ultimate is down, teams still have to respect the constant threat of being hooked from long range. He is not quite as oppressive as The Doorman, but he is still one of the most likely heroes to be removed before the match starts.

Apollo

Apollo plays somewhat like Yamato in the way he delivers damage, but with one major difference: he gets far more mobility on top of that damage output. That extra movement makes him much harder to pin down and much more flexible in fights.

His base stats are also stronger than Yamato's, and he has an i-frame basic ability that gives him another layer of safety. Apollo is an excellent lane winner, much like Bebop, and that makes him a very high priority pick in the current meta.

Silver

Silver breaks some of Deadlock's normal damage rules because so much of her output is tied to enemy health rather than only her own direct scaling. That makes her an equalizer style hero who can stay relevant against stronger or more durable opponents.

Her laning phase is also strong thanks to high base regeneration and effective trading windows. If she gets ahead, her midgame can become terrifying, especially against teams that struggle to contain her before she starts dictating fights.

Shiv

Shiv also bends the rules of the game, but he does it through mobility. At the pro level, strong Shiv players use his RMB movement to cover the map, escape bad situations, and get away with far more than most heroes should be allowed to.

His damage output and sustain make him difficult to punish once fights break out. That mix of mobility, survivability, and kill pressure pushes him firmly into first pick and ban territory.

S Tier: High Priority Meta Heroes

Celeste

Celeste has one of the strongest movement profiles in the game because of her increased air control and lower gravity. That gives her excellent dueling potential and makes her a dangerous roamer.

She is also very good at cutting waves behind enemy lines without dying, which gives her team pressure and map control without requiring a full commitment. That safety and flexibility make her one of the more valuable picks in the tier.

Lash

Lash brings a solid lane and massive teamfight upside. Even with a large portion of his kit not working as intended, he remains extremely strong in the current meta.

His value comes from how reliably he can affect fights once teams start grouping. He may not always be the first hero banned, but his teamfight ceiling keeps him near the top of the list.

Pocket

Pocket was previously known for how much Affliction could swing fights, but in the current meta he is being used in a different way. Instead of only being valued for late fight impact, Pocket is now often played as an evasive creep cutter and farm stealing hero.

That style allows him to build a major money lead, which then turns him into a strong duelist. Once the game reaches later stages, he still brings Affliction as a powerful mass anti-heal tool, giving him both economic pressure and fight impact.

Vyper

Vyper is probably the biggest outlier in S tier, but her upside is real. She has huge carry potential and an extremely strong lane, which gives her a path to influencing the game early while still scaling into a major late game threat.

Her evasiveness makes her hard to lock down, and when she gets space to play, she can become one of the most dangerous damage dealers on the map. She contributes early and still offers a major win condition later.

Mirage

Mirage is the premier sidelaner in the current meta. He is extremely difficult to kill in a 1v1, and it is not unusual to see him survive or even win some 1v2 situations.

His laning phase is strong and survivable, but his value grows even more once he gets max ultimate. At that point, he becomes very effective at managing multiple lanes by himself, forcing opponents to spend extra resources dealing with him while his team plays elsewhere on the map.

Nice to have Lightbringer helping out with the site! Fun to see the difference in hero priority between MM and pro play. Let's go Apollo! I wonder if he regrets Celeste as S tier and not higher after how well vratic played on her today.
